Sin Principle in all men

All of us have the same sin principle in us. We are no longer grace filled and able to respond perfectly due to the fall.

Non perfection is the result of a deficit of goodness that we know deep down we want but don’t have.

Not all do the same sin but the same sin principle is in all.

Each person has their own individual broken desires that if not allowed Grace can grow worse. (Mild frustration grows into murderous-the root is the same no matter where someone is on spectrum[look of lust is adultery])

We have shame and guilt due to this deficit because we want to do things perfectly right but it is impossible.

So we try and redefine what is right from the perfect standard. We rationalize and redefine so we are right, we try to be our own God, so we no longer feel inadequate, ashamed, or broken (it is normal we say).

We blame others when they do wrong instead of empathizing that they also are dealing with their own sin principle and deficits and need grace.

We don’t realize that if we did anything right it was grace, not due to us, since the sin principle is still active in us until heaven where it will be ultimately healed.

Need a Savior

We are to acknowledge this sin principle in us seeing we need a savior, to tell us what the standard is, agree we are broken and can’t meet it, to wash our sins away, and grace to respond better until we are ultimately healed in heaven.

Jesus is our expiation and in Him we have access to Grace that will help us choose wisely the right way. If we fall and repent, He covers our sin with his blood washing it away. He gives us grace to get up and fight another day our broken desires due to the sin principle still in us.

Don’t judge-pray!

We are all in the same boat (broken sin principle in us)

We all can do some right because God made us good, God is always offering grace to do right, sin is a deficit of a good, we are not depraved and grace breaks through.

We should pray for each other instead of judging each other’s individual sins. That same deficit could be in us if not allowed grace. The root of it is in us we just happened to have grace from God for it not to grow. Glory to God not myself.

HOW I AM SAVED: BY GRACE, THROUGH FAITH, IN CHRIST, GLORY TO GOD. I am not able to save myself. God saves.

BIBLE is my Rule of Life: NKJV or RSV2CE

The Word of God

The Word says God is choosing a people to be His special possession. He wants to deliver us to a good life free from the destruction of sin. He loves His creation and sin destroys His creation.

Jesus loves me and has completed salvation. If I let Him give me Grace I can be changed to live IN, WITH, and THROUGH Him; who is my Righteousness, Sanctification, Redemption, and Eternal Salvation.

I cannot earn salvation by work but I do have to surrender to grace to obey because of the faith in who He is and what He promises. I am saved By Grace through Faith in the God Man Jesus and what He promises all for His Glory.

BY GRACE (God’s Part)

God offers Grace

  1. to love Him with my whole heart, soul, mind, & strength
  2. to love others as I love myself for His sake and Glory
  3. to reject the world, flesh, & devil
  4. to want his commands and will
  5. to give me power to obey and conform my life to His will and commands
  6. to let Jesus be my Savior and not look to myself to meet my needs and desires (I am not to play God and try and control, I am to accept what God wants to give me as pure gift)

THROUGH FAITH (My Part if I say Yes to Grace)

A free submission of my will to God.

Entrusting my whole self entirely to God.

Assenting to all He has revealed because He is Truth itself.

IN CHRIST

Living IN WITH AND THROUGH Jesus, who is my everything. I must cultivate my relationship by listening to Him and asking for the Grace and Faith to be what He made me to be.

GLORY

Glory to God: The ultimate purpose of salvation and all of life is to bring glory to God, as He is the source of all.

PRAYER

Prayer is how I am being the presence of God. I must learn to have silence and specific times of it, to cultivate presence.

Cling to RELATIONSHIP IN CHRIST and WORD of God!

No more living through the church or saints. I must cling to the Almighty and what THE WORD says. I AM RESPONSIBLE TO GOD FIRST!! Catholic teach tradition and dabble in the Word. I need to KNOW Christ and that comes through knowing scripture. Tradition is fine but I am weak and need more protein food not side dishes.

LEARNING:

Mass is for: Worship, Covenant renewal, Praise, Communion, Sacrifice, Glory to God

Preaching is for: Conviction, Teaching, Revelation, Prophecy, Study

Conditional covenant love. Not unconditional covenant love.

He has chosen to love me but will destroy me if I don’t obey. If I listen and obey He will keep covenant and merciful love, otherwise he will destroy me.

God’s saving and covenant love is conditional upon obedient faith; God’s universal Creator-love is not.

God may destroy the rebellious person’s earthly security, covenant standing, or ultimately permit the loss of salvation, while still desiring that person’s repentance rather than his death.

By “love” it means covenant love: protection, communion, blessing, and salvation, then it is conditional. God says that obedience preserves the covenant, while apostasy brings destruction.

God’s covenant fellowship and its promised blessings are conditional upon faithful response. Deuteronomy explicitly says that God maintains covenant love with those who love Him and keep His commandments, while rejecting Him brings destruction and judgment.

for the Lord your God in the midst of you is a jealous God; lest the anger of the Lord your God be kindled against you, and he destroy you from off the face of the earth.  (Deuteronomy 6:15, RSV2CE)

For they would turn away your sons from following me, to serve other gods; then the anger of the Lord would be kindled against you, and he would destroy you quickly.  (Deuteronomy 7:4, RSV2CE)

19 And if you forget the Lord your God and go after other gods and serve them and worship them, I solemnly warn you this day that you shall surely perish. 20 Like the nations that the Lord makes to perish before you, so shall you perish, because you would not obey the voice of the Lord your God.  (Deuteronomy 8:19–20, RSV2CE)

6 “For you are a people holy to the Lord your God; the Lord your God has chosen you to be a people for his own possession, out of all the peoples that are on the face of the earth. 7 It was not because you were more in number than any other people that the Lord set his love upon you and chose you, for you were the fewest of all peoples; 8 but it is because the Lord loves you, and is keeping the oath which he swore to your fathers, that the Lord has brought you out with a mighty hand, and redeemed you from the house of bondage, from the hand of Pharaoh king of Egypt. 9 Know therefore that the Lord your God is God, the faithful God who keeps covenant and merciful love with those who love him and keep his commandments, to a thousand generations, 10 and repays to their face those who hate him, by destroying them; he will not be slack with him who hates him, he will repay him to his face. 11 You shall therefore be careful to do the commandment, and the statutes, and the ordinances, which I command you this day.  (Deuteronomy 7:6–11, RSV2CE)

12 “And because you listen to these ordinances, and keep and do them, the Lord your God will keep with you the covenant and the merciful love which he swore to your fathers to keep; 13 he will love you, bless you, and multiply you (Deuteronomy 7:12–13, RSV2CE)

5 Know then in your heart that, as a man disciplines his son, the Lord your God disciplines you. 6 So you shall keep the commandments of the Lord your God, by walking in his ways and by fearing him (Deuteronomy 8:5–6, RSV2CE)

26  As it was in the days of Noah, so will it be in the days of the Son of man. 27 They ate, they drank, they married, they were given in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, and the flood came and destroyed them all.

28  Likewise as it was in the days of Lot—they ate, they drank, they bought, they sold, they planted, they built, 29 but on the day when Lot went out from Sodom, fire and brimstone rained from heaven and destroyed them all—30 so will it be on the day when the Son of man is revealed.  (Luke 17:26–30, RSV2CE)

Deuteronomy 6

If you forget God, if you don’t serve him, if you have other gods before you you are angering and arousing his anger, don’t tempt him and diligently keep his commands otherwise he will destroy you. He loves us but wants us to do the commands so we have life, otherwise He will destroy us.

Jesus shares this view of God's holiness and the serious danger of rejecting God's commands.

Jesus and God's Commands

  • Jesus upholds the law: Jesus says he did not come to destroy the law, but to fulfill it. He teaches that obeying God's commands matters deeply.
  • Jesus speaks of judgment: Jesus warns people about destruction and eternal judgment for those who reject God and refuse to repent. He describes a final judgment where those who do not follow God are separated from him.
  • Jesus offers life through obedience: Jesus teaches that loving him means keeping his commandments. He states that those who obey him abide in his love and receive eternal life. (He gives the Holy Spirit so you can obey)

Love and Wrath Together

  • God's love and justice: Christian theology teaches that God's love and his holy anger against sin exist at the same time. His warnings show the serious cost of turning away from the source of life.
  • Jesus as Savior: Jesus offers rescue from destruction. He takes the penalty of judgment upon himself for those who believe and follow him, offering mercy instead of wrath.

Comparing Old Testament Warnings and Jesus' Teachings

Old Testament Concept

Jesus' Matching Teaching

Forgetting or leaving Godresults in being cut off from life.

Spiritual Separation: Jesus says, "If anyone does not abide in me he is thrown away like a branch and withers; and the branches are gathered, thrown into the fire, and burned." (John 15:6)

Having other gods before Him provokes His anger.

Total Allegiance: Jesus teaches that you cannot serve two masters and demands first priority: "No one can serve two masters... You cannot serve God and money." (Matthew 6:24)

Tempting Godor testing His patience brings consequences.

Do Not Test God: When tempted to test God's protection, Jesus responds directly with scripture: "You shall not put the Lord your God to the test." (Matthew 4:7)

Diligently keeping His commands is required for life.

Obedience Proves Love: Jesus states that keeping commands is central to a relationship with him: "If you love me, you will keep my commandments." (John 14:15)

Destructionawaits those who completely reject Him.

The Warning of Destruction: Jesus warns about eternal judgment: "Enter by the narrow gate... For the gate is wide and the way is easy that leads to destruction." (Matthew 7:13)

Come, O unconquerable God, to my assistance, make haste to help me!

I am continually attacked, assailed, assaulted, and imperiled by my enemies-namely the flesh, the world, and the devil.

Strengthen me, Save me!

You are my only Hope!

READ

13 Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted with evil and he himself tempts no one; 14 but each person is tempted when he is lured and enticed by his own desire. 15 Then desire when it has conceived gives birth to sin; and sin when it is full-grown brings forth death.  (James 1:13–15, RSV2CE)

REFLECT

I am tempted by my own internal desires. It is something inside that makes me want something not right for me.

God does not tempt.

The devil doesn’t even tempt. He whispers the bad things you desire in hopes to make you fall. But it is the desire in you that tempts.

I am tempted when the desire in me is lured and enticed to give in. That happens internally. If I have no desire to do something wrong, then it cannot be lured and enticed because it is not a desire of mine.

Sin is in me, the desire that gets lured, enticed, chosen, then results in death when acted upon.  It is not an external thing, it is all internal. No one can cause me to sin, it is a choice to act on a wrong desire.

RESOLUTION

I must ask God to replace my desires. Like getting healthy in food or exercise. At first the fresh food is not good and you crave the bad. Eventually your body learns to love the fresh food and feel disgust for the bad. With exercise it’s hard to start but once you’ve trained your body likes it and craves it if you miss. Training  sinful desires is the same, we must do it consistently to train yourself to love the good and reject the bad, eventually your desires become reprogrammed with the Word and Grace.

REST

Holy God, help me give all my desires to you to reprogram in your word! Please empower me with Grace to train myself to reject harmful desires and replace with good ones. You know and see the desires that are sinful for me and love to save sinners. I am a sinner in desperate need to curb the desires that try to destroy my soul. Save Me! Help me stop blaming others for tempting and realize temptation is in me due to wrong desires. You are my only hope! Give me a new heart! In your name Jesus Christ my God I pray. Amen.

God has a purpose not a finite plan for your life

God calls every person first to know, love, and become holy in Christ. Before deciding a career, relationship, or location, your fundamental vocation is to love God and neighbor and grow into the likeness of Jesus. Life itself is received as a gift and a call to love.

Rational creatures truly deliberate, choose, and direct their lives, while their choices remain within God’s Providence.

God works with your choices. God’s Providence means that he sustains creation, guides it toward its fulfillment, and works within the concrete circumstances of human life. This includes your free decisions—not by destroying your freedom, but by working through it.

There are, however, things God does will firmly:

  • that you exist and are loved;
  • that you seek holiness and salvation in Christ;
  • that you obey his moral law;
  • that you love God and neighbor;
  • and, for some people, a particular vocation such as marriage, priesthood, or consecrated life - Every baptized person is invited to discover how God is calling him or her to bear witness to Christ.

You should discern important matters prayerfully, especially your state of life (vocation), but discernment is not normally an attempt to uncover one fragile answer where choosing incorrectly ruins God’s plan. You seek what is good, listen to God, use wisdom, fulfill your duties, and then make a responsible decision. God can guide you through that decision—and can bring good even from mistakes, setbacks, or unexpected changes.

Christian “predestination” means God’s loving purpose that we become his adopted children and “holy and blameless” in Christ—not blind fate or coercion. You are not merely acting out a predetermined program. God gives you authentic freedom and asks for a personal, responsible response.

Within those boundaries, God may leave several genuinely good paths open. Your choices are freely chosen and yet providentially accompanied. You make plans, and God works with you for good as you love him. God can bring saving good even from suffering, mistakes, disappointments, and consequences—ultimately conforming those who love him to Christ.

God has a purpose: your holiness and union with him in Christ. Within that purpose, he gives you real freedom to make many genuine choices and plans, and his Providence accompanies you—bringing good from your faithful cooperation, even when life does not unfold as expected.

God is not the author of sin or injustice. You remain responsible for your choices. Yet no failure places you beyond his ability to forgive, redirect, and sanctify you.

Father, I give you my plans. Prevent me from choosing sin, give me wisdom about what is good, and help me choose freely what best serves love. If I make a mistake, guide me and bring good from it.
