As Christians we are never finished being converted, reborn and risen again; the condition of our life on earth is the tension of a continual regeneration in Christ, conforming us more and more to his death and resurrection. A Christian’s striving is never ended; we groan inwardly as we wait for the redemption (Rom 8:23). We shall have full and complete redemption only in heaven.

Meanwhile as long as we live on earth as pilgrims, we must bear within us the marks of the death and resurrection of the Lord: the mark of his death through our rejection of sin, the overcoming of our passions, the generous renunciation and mortification which makes us like our crucified Lord; the mark of his resurrection by a life that is bright with purity and love.

Each of us must make room for the Lord, so that we may rise and live again in him; so that within us, Christ may continue to dwell among men and do good.
