7 Beloved, let us love one another; for love is of God, and he who loves is born of God and knows God. 8 He who does not love does not know God; for God is love. 9 (1 John 4:7–8, RSV2CE)
No man has ever seen God; if we love one another, God abides in us and his love is perfected in us. (1 John 4:12, RSV2CE)
By this we know that we abide in him and he in us, because he has given us of his own Spirit. (1 John 4:13, RSV2CE)
15 Whoever confesses that Jesus is the Son of God, God abides in him, and he in God. 16 So we know and believe the love God has for us. God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God abides in him. (1 John 4:15–16, RSV2CE)
There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and he who fears is not perfected in love. (1 John 4:18, RSV2CE)
REFLECT
I am beloved. I am to love others. If I am born of God and know Him, I will love others. If I do not love, I do not know God. God is love. If I let God love others through me God’s love is perfected in me. He has given me His own Spirit that’s how I know I abide in Him. If I confess the truth that Jesus is the son of God, God abides in me and I am in God. I need to fight fear, if I am fearing I am afraid of punishment instead of being perfected in love. God does not punish he corrects and disciplines to keep me close to Him in love.
PRAY
Help me Jesus. Help me believe I am beloved. Help me love and be loved. Help me surrender to your Spirit. I know you are the son of God. I know you are love. Help me abide in you. Help me fight fear. It comes up a lot. Keep me close!! I love you my God. Amen.
