7 “Woe to the world for temptations to sin! For it is necessary that temptations come, but woe to the man by whom the temptation comes! 8 And if your hand or your foot causes you to sin, cut it off and throw it from you; it is better for you to enter •life maimed or lame than with two hands or two feet to be thrown into the eternal fire. 9 And if your eye causes you to sin, pluck it out and throw it from you; it is better for you to enter •life with one eye than with two eyes to be thrown into the hell of fire. (Matthew 18:7–9, RSV2CE)

REFLECT

Woe to us that we have temptations. But they are necessary. We are being tested all day to see if we are in the faith. If you have a disordered desire-CUT IT OFF. You can choose to fight with God’s Grace. If you don’t fight it you will kill your own soul and end up in hell. If you do fight, true life is there. It is better to enter eternal life (walking with Jesus all the way to heaven) then to loose your soul for transitory pleasure that leads to hell.

PRAY

My God, please help me fight my sin! Wash me in your blood, Holy Spirit empower me to see and fight my sin. Sometimes I don’t even see the sin it is such a part of me. Break these chains so I can be free to walk all the way home in your power.

REST

Thank you my God for the promise of grace and strength to fight. I can rest knowing you came to save sinners! Save me from my sin!
