God wants you to be holy, nothing less
God wants you to be holy. So what is your excuse for not seeking holiness? The only honest answer would be: “I don’t want to be holy.” But if you say “yes” to his invitation, he will make you holy! And you will live with him forever in heaven.
Even as he chose us in him before the foundation of the world, that we should be holy and blameless before him.
(Ephesians 1:4)
For this is the will of God, your sanctification: that you abstain from immorality; that each one of you know how to control his own body in holiness and honor.… For God has not called us for uncleanness, but in holiness.
(1 Thessalonians 4:3–4, 7)
For the grace of God has appeared for the salvation of all men, training us to renounce irreligion and worldly passions, and to live sober, upright, and godly lives in this world, awaiting our blessed hope, the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior Jesus Christ.
(Titus 2:11–13)
in god’s presence, consider …
If I live my life saying “no” to God’s invitation to holiness, when I die and am called upon to render to him an account of my life, he will say to me sadly, “Thy will be done.” And off I will go into the eternal darkness of hell.
closing prayer
Lord, teach me to always say “yes.” to you. Even when what you ask seems more than I can handle, I pray that you will animate my feeble will with your grace and enable me to spend the rest of my life seeking holiness or die trying.
