What do you know?
READ
And if anyone thinks that he knows anything, he knows nothing yet as he ought to know. (1 Corinthians 8:2, NKJV)
REFLECT
If I think I know all about something, my pride has blinded the fact that I actually don’t know a lot and could still learn.
PRAY
Father, I admit I think that I do know a lot, and sometimes I don’t want to be taught by others that I think don’t. But in reality I don’t know what I don’t know! So help me be humble and open to seeing your knowledge wherever it comes to me from. You work through all things, after all you even use talking donkeys! Amen.
Love from God and To God
READ
But if anyone loves God, this one is known by Him. (1 Corinthians 8:3, NKJV)
REFLECT
If someone loves God, it is only because God has opened and poured His own love into their heart. We love because He first loved us.
PRAY
This is so comforting to me. I am always trying to search my heart to be sure I am in the faith. But just knowing I love you (as weak and miserly as it is) is a sign that I am yours! Thank you Jesus!! Amen.
Made to Live with and Through God
READ
yet for us there is one God, the Father, of whom are all things, and we for Him; and one Lord Jesus Christ, through whom are all things, and through whom we live. (1 Corinthians 8:6, NKJV)
REFLECT
There is only One God! Though we do idolize a lot of other things, they do not satisfy and are not the One True God! The Father created all things! We are created for Him. The Lord Jesus Christ is who we were made through. And we are made to live through Him.
PRAY
How desperately sad that we are all missing the mark of why we are made. The loving Father created us Through Jesus. We are made to live through Him for the Father. We are made to live with in and through God. He wants to be with me! Thank you my God! Please open my eyes to see this truth everyday. You want to live with me! Thank you!
Leading another astray is sinning against Christ himself.
READ
11 And because of your knowledge shall the weak brother perish, for whom Christ died? 12 But when you thus sin against the brethren, and wound their weak conscience, you sin against Christ. 13 Therefore, if food makes my brother stumble, I will never again eat meat, lest I make my brother stumble. (1 Corinthians 8:11–13, NKJV)
REFLECT
When you do something that a weak person cannot handle, making it seem okay for them, you are sinning against Christ! YIKES! It is better to curb my desires for love of a brother than to sin against Christ!
PRAY
Father, I am so sorry for all the times I did something that may lead others to defile themselves. You are saying that because that other person is yours you are one with them. When I sin against them I am sinning against You! Please forgive my sin and open my eyes to take into consideration others! I do not want to hurt anyone and I especially do not want to sin against you! Amen.
