READ
2 My little children, these things I write to you, so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous. 2 And He Himself is the propitiation for our sins, and not for ours only but also for the whole world. (1 John 2:1–2, NKJV)
REFLECTION
The Word is to put in my heart so I don’t sin against God. It is so I know what is right and wrong, even though it is already in my conscience, though broken. John is writing this epistle to let me know truth so I do not sin.
If anyone sins (anyone in the world!) there is an advocate with the Father.
Jesus Christ the righteous one is the advocate for any man in the world who has sinned! He specifically is the propitiation Himself. His own body! And He is the propitiation for the entire world!
RESOLUTION
I am a sinner who wants to stop sinning. Jesus came to save sinners. All men are sinners. Jesus Christ is The Advocate with the Father! Jesus Christ is the Righteous Propitiation for all sinners.
Jesus Christ, my advocate, my propitiation, please save me from my sin! Help me keep your word of truth in my heart soul and mind so I can live it out. Thank you for coming to save!
REST
Thank you for letting me feel safe to come to you with my sin. Thank you for being the Remedy! I cannot save myself, I will hope and trust in your perfect righteousness and propitiation as I walk out salvation in your grace! Thank you Jesus for your sacrifice and love! Amen.
