who gave himself for our sins to deliver us from the present evil age, according to the will of our God and Father; (Galatians 1:4, RSV2CE)
Jesus gave himself for my sins. He washes away my sin in his own blood. I choose to give him my sin, when I do, so he can wash it away. He did not die in vain, I must give him my sin to have it washed away. If I do not give it to him, he cannot wash it. Repentance and Confession is the only way. Give Glory to God for His Mercy for all the sin He washes!!
Jesus delivers me from sin here and now in this present evil age. He gives me power by grace to deny sin. Though I won’t be perfect, the more I fight my sin with His divine power in me, the better I will get at it. And if I fall, give him my sin to wash away and start again.
This is according to the will of God the Almighty Father.
6 I am astonished that you are so quickly deserting him who called you in the grace of Christ and turning to a different gospel— 7 not that there is another gospel, but there are some who trouble you and want to pervert the gospel of Christ. 8 But even if we, or an angel from heaven, should preach to you a gospel contrary to that which we preached to you, let him be accursed. 9 As we have said before, so now I say again, If any one is preaching to you a gospel contrary to that which you received, let him be accursed. (Galatians 1:6–9, RSV2CE)
Do not turn from grace to legalism, that is not the gospel. If anyone, even an apostle (even the church) should preach a wrong gospel they should be accursed. He says it twice! They are to be accursed!! Do not become legalistic. The Pharisees were legalists.
Live by Grace not Law because of Love! Pray to live following what he likes by his power not by looking at a set of rules. Ask God to be able to follow his will for myself not looking at rules someone has made a list of. I want to do what he likes because I love him and he gave himself for me and washes my sin away.
11 Brethren, I would have you know that the gospel which was preached by me is not man’s gospel. 12 For I did not receive it from man, nor was I taught it, but it came through a revelation of Jesus Christ. 13 For you have heard of my former life in Judaism, how I persecuted the Church of God violently and tried to destroy it; 14 and I advanced in Judaism beyond many of my own age among my people, so extremely zealous was I for the traditions of my fathers. 15 But when he who had set me apart before I was born, and had called me through his grace, 16 was pleased to reveal his Son to me, in order that I might preach him among the Gentiles, I did •not confer with flesh and blood (Galatians 1:11–16, RSV2CE)
This Gospel is a revelation from Jesus not taught by any human being. Paul was a violent persecutor, zealous for the traditions of the church. He tried to destroy the Christians.
Paul was set apart before birth to be called by grace. The Father revealed Jesus to him. The Father called Paul to preach who Jesus is.
Jesus is the sacrifice that washes away the sin of the world. He is the giver of Grace to live in His will, for love of Him fighting my own sin with his power, so I can be free from this evil age.
But because of false brethren secretly brought in, who slipped in to spy out our freedom which we have in Christ Jesus, that they might bring us into bondage— (Galatians 2:4, RSV2CE)
The Jews wanted others in bondage to rules and traditions. But we have been set free from legalism and sin that plagues us. We are made free in Christ to live by love and grace.
16 yet who know that a man is not justified by works of the law but through faith in Jesus Christ, even we have believed in Christ Jesus, in order to be justified by faith in Christ, and not by works of the law, because by works of the law shall no flesh be justified. 17 But if, in our endeavor to be justified in Christ, we •ourselves were found to be sinners, is Christ then an agent of sin? Certainly not! (Galatians 2:16–17, RSV2CE)
Man is not justified by the law or works of the law. No flesh is justified by obedience of laws.
Man is justified when he believes (faith and trust) the Blood of Christ washes away his sin. We may even be called sinners because we are weak and fall. Christ however, is not the agent of sin, but the cleanser of it. We have to bring Him our sin to cleanse us. We freely admit our sin and have it cleansed.
We are not trying to live contrary to his law, we do want to do right which is why we repent and ask for cleansing. But our justification comes when we get it cleansed by Him (repent and confess-not continue in sin) those who want to continue in sin are not justified because they are not believers in the need to get cleansed.
9 For I through the law died to the law, that I might live to God. 20 I have been crucified with Christ•; it is no longer I who live, but Christ who lives in me; and the life I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave himself for me. 21 I do not nullify the grace of God; for if justification were through the law, then Christ died to no purpose. (Galatians 2:19–21, RSV2CE)
I died to laws, rules, and legalism. I live to God. I let God’s grace live in me. I live by faith that if I sin, he will cleanse, but I pray for grace to not sin. God gave himself up for me. I do not want to nullify grace to live by legalism, then Jesus died for nothing. Justification is by faith and allowing him to have my sin and wash it away, praying for grace to do his will for me because he loves me and has a plan for fulfillment.
Set me free my God! Help me live for love of you. Thank you for coming to save me. Amen.
