I Thessalonians 1
To the church
in God the Father and the Lord Jesus
Grace, and Peace to you
Your work of Faith (allowing the Spirit to subdue the flesh)
Your labor of Love (loving your neighbor as yourself)
Perseverance of Hope in our Lord Jesus (you will be glorified if you keep going)
The presence of God (communion)
Knowing that you are beloved by God
and he has chosen you
because the gospel do not come in just word, but in Power (you are being changed through surrender-not lip service)
Through the Holy Spirit with full conviction! (Know you are a sinner that needs grace to be changed)
Turn to God from idols (idols of self-wanting our own way that is killing us)
Serve a living and true God (serving truth sets you free to be what you were made for)
Wait for his Son from heaven (Jesus will change us in an instant)
Jesus rescues us from the wrath to come (Wrath is coming on those who disobey God)
~~~
The "wrath" signifies the consequences of sin and the ultimate separation from God that results from a life lived in opposition to His will.
The concept of wrath is not merely punitive but serves as a call to repentance. It underscores the seriousness of sin and the need for salvation through Jesus Christ. The promise that Jesus rescues believers from this wrath emphasizes His role as the Savior who offers grace and mercy, allowing them to escape the consequences of their sins.
the "wrath to come" in 1 Thessalonians signifies the divine judgment awaiting those who reject God. It serves as a reminder of the seriousness of sin and the necessity of faith in Jesus Christ for salvation. Through His death and resurrection, believers are assured of deliverance from this wrath, highlighting the transformative power of the gospel.
