We are to have hatred for our sin, and ask for grace to master it.
The primary motive for repentance of sin is the injury done to God.
Sin is to be detested above all:
- As an offense against God’s infinite goodness.
- Resistance to His love
- Rejection of His friendship
- Ingratitude for His benefits
- Scorn of indifference to His Will
