The efficacy from the paschal mysteries of the Passion, Death and Resurrection of Christ (the Eucharist) whose infinite merits are applied to every Christian when celebrated.
When one of the faithful receives a sacrament, he is not only freed from sin and sanctified by grace, but freed and sanctified in Christ, immersed in his mystery, renewed in his life, and united “in a hidden and real way to the suffering and glorified Christ”.
