The wooden beam in my eye and speck in another’s:
Before we rebuke or fault-find: Have we had this fault?
If not- by the grace of God we haven’t, and give God thanks.
Do we still? Mourn over it and ask the other to join in the fight with you.
Are we free? It is by grace of God we are, and sympathize with our neighbor.
In other words, if we see someone else doing something wrong, turn it back on yourself and let it be an examination of conscience.
Because we all have specks in our eyes, we’re all sinners, and as long as none of us is too proud to admit it, we can fight our sins more effectively together than by ourselves.
St. Augustine
