The first occasion came in 1854 with Pope Pius IX in his Papal Bull Ineffabilis Deus, which declared the Immaculate Conception of Mary as dogma. The second occurred in 1950 when Pope Pius XII declared the Assumption of Mary, body and soul into Heaven, as dogma in the Apostolic Constitution, Munificentissimus Deus.
