The Holy Spirit
Receive the Holy Spirit
Never cease praying for the Holy Spirit
The Holy Spirit teaches us to pray for God’s will for us.
The Holy Spirit will remind me of what Jesus says
COME HOLY SPIRIT
Receive
But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be my witnesses in Jerusalem and in all Judea and Samaria and to the end of the earth.” (Acts 1:8, RSV2CE)
Receive
And Peter said to them, “Repent, and be baptized every one of you in the name of Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of your sins; and you shall receive the gift of the Holy Spirit. (Acts 2:38, RSV2CE)
Pray for Him
If you then, who are evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will the heavenly Father give the Holy Spirit to those who ask him!” (Luke 11:13, RSV2CE)
Prays for me
26 Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness; for we do not know how to pray as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with sighs too deep for words. 27 And he who searches the hearts of men knows what is the mind of the Spirit, because the Spirit intercedes for the saints according to the will of God. (Romans 8:26–27, RSV2CE)
Reminds me
But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit, whom the Father will send in my name, he will teach you all things, and bring to your remembrance all that I have said to you. (John 14:26, RSV2CE)
Come Holy Spirit
When you send forth your Spirit, they are created; and you renew the face of the earth. (Psalm 104:30, RSV2CE)
The role of the Holy Spirit in Christian life is quite enormous!
1) As an indwelling God, the Holy Spirit makes us His Living Temples (I Cor 3:16).
2). As a strengthening God, He strengthens us in our fight against temptations and in our mission of bearing witness to Christ by transparent Christian lives.
3) As a sanctifying God, He makes us holy through the Sacraments: a) He makes us children of God and heirs of heaven through Baptism. b) He makes us temples of God, warriors and defenders of the Faith, through Confirmation. c) He enables us to be reconciled to God by pardoning our sins through Reconciliation. d) He gives us spiritual nourishment through the Holy Eucharist by converting bread and wine into the Body and Blood of Christ, my spiritual life nourishment. (Like a baby feeding off the mother in the womb)
4) As a teaching and guiding God, He clarifies and constantly reminds us of Christ’s teachings.
5) As a listening and talking God, He listens to our prayers and enables us to pray, and He speaks to us mainly through the Bible.
6) As a giver of gifts, He enriches us with His gifts, fruits and charisms. We need to permit the Holy Spirit to take control of our lives by constantly remembering His holy presence and behaving well. Come Holy Spirit! By praying for His daily anointing so that we may fight against our temptations and control our evil tendencies, evil habits and addictions. By asking His daily assistance to pray, listening to God through meditative Bible reading and talking to Him and By asking the help of the Holy Spirit that we may do good for others and be reconciled with God and others every day.
