Union is the Goal
Never let me forget my goal of union:
a joyful union, if you grant that to me, O God,
or a suffering union, if that pleases you better.
But, however that may be, union,
intimacy with you within me, (in joy or sorrow)
and without me through souls. (Bringing them to you by suffering their weaknesses with mercy and forgiveness.)
