“The law of love, which is the Lord’s greatest commandment, impels all the faithful to promote God’s glory through the spread of his kingdom and to obtain eternal life for all men” (AA 3).
Apathy and indifference to the salvation of our fellowmen is a sign of very weak charity, much like a wick that is about to be extinguished.
Giving ourselves over to the interior life does not mean concentrating only on our own salvation with no concern for that of others; rather, it means living in intimate communion with God so as to receive his love, to grow in it, to return it, and disseminate it around us.
If our union with God is genuine, the love which springs from it is also genuine; such love is always characterized by anxiety to procure the glory of God as he himself procured it: by loving and saving men.
Apostolic zeal is an essential requirement of charity, it is a flame that bursts forth from the fire of love for God.
