READ

12  While he was in one of the cities, there came a man full of leprosy; and when he saw Jesus, he fell on his face and begged him, “Lord, if you will, you can make me clean.” 13 And he stretched out his hand, and touched him, saying, “I will; be clean.” And immediately the leprosy left him. 14  And he charged him to tell no one; but “go and show yourself to the priest, and make an offering for your cleansing, as Moses commanded, for a proof to the people.” (Luke 5:12–14, RSV2CE)

REFLECTION

The man saw Jesus. The man goes to Jesus. The man knows He is Lord. The man knows Jesus can heal him. The man humbles himself in front of Jesus. The man begs Jesus.

Jesus touches the leper. (Sin does not defile Jesus) Jesus will is to cleanse. Jesus tells the man to give offering to God through the church as a proof of God’s power.

Sin defiles us not God. When God touches our sin it is healed. We have to choose to give it to Him.

RESOLUTION

This is the model of confession. I must realize I am full of leperous sin. I must go to Jesus in the confessional. I must know He is Lord. I must believe Jesus can heal me. I must humble myself and go to the confessional. I must beg Jesus for the healing of my sin and soul.

My sin does not defile my God. I am not to fear bringing it to Him. He needs it, to cleanse it. Like a Dr can’t help me unless I tell him the illness and all its ugliness.

In the confessional Jesus is touching me through the priest. Jesus wants yo cleanse and heal, I must not fear or doubt bringing all my ugly parts that need healing from the Divine Physician. This is the offering I bring to God through the church for proof!

REST

Jesus, help me not to fear showing you my sin that needs healing. We want to run from you instead of open and give it up to you. It’s frightening. Thank you for giving us the offering of Confession through your church so we can hear that you absolve us. You want to heal not condemn! Thank you my God! I trust in you!! Amen.
