Live 4 The LORD

17  And when it was evening he came with the Twelve. 18 And as they were at table •eating, Jesus said, “Truly, I say to you•, one of you will betray me, one who is eating with me.” 19 They began to be sorrowful, and to say to him one after another, “Is it I?” 20 •He said to them, “It is one of the Twelve, one who is dipping bread in the same dish with me. 21 For •the Son of man goes as it is written of him, but woe to that man by whom the Son of man is betrayed! It would have been better for that man if he had not been born.”  (Mark 14:17–21, RSV2CE)

REFLECTION

Jesus sees who will betray him. 

He treated the betrayer with respect, inclusion, dignity, and even gave them a purpose in the kingdom. He respects all men calls them to become part of the kingdom, gives them dignity as a human being, and has a purpose for them in his creation. 

Yet, man refuses to give allegiance to His Majesty. They don’t want His way of life, they want to rule themselves and do evil instead of righteousness. 

Jesus allows all men to choose their path. He offers grace and man rejects it because they want their own way. He even allows man to kill him, the author of all life. 

The friends of God are saddened, and afraid it is even themselves, because they know how weak they are. They see they need grace. 

Those who betray God, rejecting His plan for them, it would have been better if they had not been born. This is a horrifying statement. 

The whole point of life is to live God’s will. Or it would have been better if I had not been born!

RESOLUTION

My God, I am weak! I know I am in need of grace at every moment. My mind and heart are so broken and fickle I could easily be led to go my own way without your grace. I beg you my Father, please help me. I do not want to reject your way for me. I want to be yours, I never want to betray You. You know best and have made a perfect way for me to live. Help me when I go off the rails, gently or even forcefully if necessary, wake me up!! Help me be your friend and follower not a betrayer. Help me live your will for me!

REST

Thank you my God for your word that instructs and realigns my heart. I know I need to keep praying for Grace and discernment. Thank you for answering my prayer. I want to live your will. I love you God!
