READ
25 Now there was a man in Jerusalem, whose name was Simeon, and this man was righteous and devout, looking for the consolation of Israel, and the Holy Spirit was upon him. 26 And it had been revealed to him by the Holy Spirit that he should not see death before he had seen the Lord’s Christ. 27 And inspired by the Spirit he came into the temple; and when the parents brought in the child Jesus, to do for him according to the custom of the law, 28 he took him up in his arms and blessed God and said,
29 “Lord, now let your servant depart in peace,
according to your word;
30 for my eyes have seen your salvation
31 which you have prepared in the presence of all peoples,
32 a light for revelation to the Gentiles,
and for glory to your people Israel.” (Luke 2:25–32, RSV2CE)
REFLECTION
Simeon: righteous, devout, looking for the Lord God’s Christ
Holy Spirit upon, reveal to, and inspires Simeon
Simeon’s part is to want, listen, and obey the Holy Spirit.
God does not force, he offers: we have to want to be with him, listen to his revelation, and obey so we can see and be part of the plan.
Bless God, have peace because his word comes to pass, see salvation (The Christ): the revelation, light, and glory of those becoming one in his own body (Jew and Gentile). For the world to see.
RESOLUTION
My God, I want to be with you. I want to listen to you, I believe you love me and want the best for me. I want to obey you because all you want is for me to have abundant life. This world has abundant life upside down and my flesh was broken by the fall so I get confused. Please open my mind to your truth so I can see and want your way over the world’s way.
REST
Thank you for loving me. Thank you for being willing to guide me. Thank you for the gift of live. I will, by your grace, listen and obey so I can have abundant life and show others your light and glory! Bless God! Amen.
