READ
27 After this he went out, and saw a tax collector, named Levi, sitting at the tax office; and he said to him, “Follow me.” 28 And he left everything, and rose and followed him.
29 And Levi made him a great feast in his house; and there was a large company of tax collectors and others sitting at table with them. 30 And the Pharisees and their scribes murmured against his disciples, saying, “Why do you eat and drink with tax collectors and sinners?” 31 And Jesus answered them, “Those who are well have no need of a physician, but those who are sick; 32 I have not come to call the righteous, but sinners to repentance.” (Luke 5:27–32, RSV2CE)
REFLECTION
Jesus is going out. He sees me working. He tells me to Follow Him. I am to leave everything (give up my life to Him) and follow Jesus. I am to bring all the people I know to meet Jesus.
Jesus wants to know all man. He is the Divine Physician that heals souls and all men are sinners in need of soul healing. Jesus has come to call all men (sinners) to repentance.
Repentance is to change your mind and turn around. I am to change from following myself and the world to follow God and His ways. His ways are healing and flourishing. My way and the world way is selfishness and destruction.
RESOLUTION
I choose to turn from my selfish destructive ways to follow you my God. I repent and choose You. Thank you for coming to tell me to follow. Help me to leave everything and let you guide and give me what you think I should have. You know best for my soul. You want to heal me and I know I need healing. Help me flourish in You and your ways.
REST
Thank you my God for your love. Thank you for your grace that changes my heart. Thank you for your care. I will rest and trust in You! Amen.
Giving up everything to follow Christ is difficult. Trusting in Christ is not.
