READ
But the angel said to him, “Do not be afraid, Zechariah, for your prayer is heard, and your wife Elizabeth will bear you a son, and you shall call his name John. (Luke 1:13, RSV2CE)
18 And Zechariah said to the angel, “How shall I know this? For I am an old man, and my wife is advanced in years.” 19 And the angel answered him, “I am Gabriel, who stand in the presence of God; and I was sent to speak to you, and to bring you this good news. 20 And behold, you will be silent and unable to speak until the day that these things come to pass, because you did not believe my words, which will be fulfilled in their time.” 21 And the people were waiting for (Luke 1:18–21, RSV2CE)
34 And Mary said to the angel, “How can this be, since I have no husband?” 35 And the angel said to her,
“The Holy Spirit will come upon you,
and the power of the Most High will overshadow you;
therefore •the child to be born will be called holy,

37 For with God nothing will be impossible.” 38 And Mary said, “Behold, I am the handmaid of the Lord; let it be to me according to your word.” And the angel departed from her. (Luke 1:37–38, RSV2CE)
REFLECTION
How shall I know… vs How can this be.
Nothing is impossible for God.
Z: How can I know this miracle it seems impossible.
He means how do I know you will do it. Does not believe the word. Wants to know how, to test.
The angel says it will be…and now be silent because you tried to test.
M: How can this be? Means how will it come about because in my situation it seems impossible. Wants to know how, for direction.
The angel explains since she needs direction.
Instead of wanting to know how God works, I need to believe what God says. Then I need to respond let it be unto me. If I want to know how to control the miracle that is unbelief in God’s work and ability. If I say let it be done to me I am agreeing it is outside of me coming from God and ask him what I need to do, to let him have his way.
RESOLUTION
I must stop asking the questions (theology) of how is something or how does He do something. Instead I need to PRAY for Him to do his will in me. More important that how and why is letting Him do what He wishes in my life. Doing His Will is being with Him (kingdom living) all the way home (heaven).
REST
I am always testing trying to figure. Instead of testing I need resting, Knowing God will do what he wills if I say yes to Him instead of questioning him. Help me Lord, let go of my questioning and start resting in your care. You are Good and Love. I Trust In You!! Amen.
