Luke 5:39

And no one, after drinking old wine wishes for new; for he says, ‘The old is good enough.’”

People are resistant to change. 

They think the old way is just fine. 

Jesus brought a new way!

Lord, please help me not resist you when you choose to set me free from something. Help me love any new way that brings life! Thank you for giving me life! Amen. 

Luke 6:7,11

And the scribes and the Pharisees were watching Him closely to see if He heals on the Sabbath, so that they might find reason to accuse Him.

But they themselves were filled with rage, and were discussing together what they might do to Jesus.

{Imagine the hatred enough to not want someone healed? Just because it’s a sabbath? just because they want to prove Jesus wrong? Just because they want to be in charge? What exactly is driving this hatred? 

Who would not want someone healed? Who would care what day it is? Who would deny someone that has power from God? 

These do not sound like holy men?!

Most hatred comes from threats to Ego: Esteem control or security.

Oh Jesus, help me guard against my Ego. Help me not want my ways over healing for others. Help me not hate someone who has gifts that I maybe wanted but to be happy your gifts are here with us. Help me not be rigid in my own mind and interpretations. You are so much bigger than I can imagine. Help me let you be God!! Amen.}
