Luke 7:23

Blessed is he who does not take offense at Me.

Acts 8:51

“You men—stiff-necked and uncircumcised in heart and ears—are always resisting the Holy Spirit. As your fathers did, so do you.

God Gives Grace

We Can Resist!

God draws us by his grace, but we still have free will. We’re free to resist the grace of God. 

Monergism (GRACE) then Synergy (ASSENT/RESIST): God acts first, and humans respond.

This cooperation is not a work that earns grace, but a response enabled by grace itself.

If we are looking to God to do our way we may be putting up blocks to see and believe him. If we are offended at God for the way he is running his world, we can miss the blessings he has and is giving us. If we miss the blessings he is giving we cannot worship and thank him for his work in our lives. If we don’t see his work in our life we will not trust him. 

Help my Holy Spirit to see you working in my life. Help me not be offended and upset by how I think things should be run. I am a finite limited viewed creature! You are the all knowing, all seeing, perfect wisdom and love. Forgive my hubris!! Heal my eyes and heart. Fill me with wisdom and power to love and assent to your work in me. Amen!
