Live 4 The LORD

READ

21 Jesus said to them again, “Peace be with you. As the Father has sent me, even so I send you.” 22 And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and said to them, “Receive the Holy Spirit. 23 If you forgive the sins of any, they are forgiven; if you retain the sins of any, they are retained.” (John 20:21–23, RSV2CE)

REFLECT

Jesus gives peace. Jesus gives the mission, we are sent like the Father sent Jesus. Jesus breathes out the Holy Spirit (from Father and Son) on the disciples telling them to receive the Holy Spirit. If the disciples forgive any sins they are forgiven, they retain any, they are retained.

PRAY

Jesus, you give me peace to be with me forever. You have given me a mission to go out into the world with the message you came to give from the Father, Repent and believe the Gospel. You breathed on my the Holy Spirit telling me to receive Him! I can forgive sin! Jesus, help me remember that I have your own peace, that I have nothing to fear for you are with and in me. Help me remember I have the Holy Spirit in me and that I have knowledge and power to obey all you ask of me. Help me on the mission field to tell people about you so that they can repent and believe You! Help me be a reconciler so that sins are forgiven and people are brought to you! I love you my God. Forgive me for my waywardness. Have mercy on us all. Amen.
