To receive the gifts of faith and grace, you must accept God's unmerited favor through trust in Jesus Christ, which is not earned by your works. You receive grace by believing in what Jesus has done, and faith is the trust you place in God to receive this gift. To grow these gifts, you can engage in practices like prayer, reading the Bible, worshipping, and using the gifts through service to others.
Receive through faith
- Believe in Jesus: Recognize that grace is a gift from God, not something you can earn. Accept that through the death and resurrection of Jesus Christ, God's grace and mercy are made available to you.
- Trust in God: Exercise faith, which is a trust in God's goodness and a belief that He acts for your good through Jesus Christ. When God offers love, faith is the response of saying "yes" to that gift.
- Yield to Jesus: Surrender your life to Jesus, ask for forgiveness, and believe that your sins are forgiven through Him.
Grow your gifts
- Pray: Pray for an increase in faith and ask for guidance. The gift of faith is often exercised through prayer, especially when praying for others.
- Study the Word: Read and study the Bible, as faith comes from hearing the message about Christ.
- Worship: Participate in both individual and communal worship.
- Serve others: Use the gifts you have received to serve one another, as this is a way of both using and growing them.
