READ
24 By faith Moses, when he became of age, refused to be called the son of Pharaoh’s daughter, 25 choosing rather to suffer affliction with the people of God than to enjoy the passing pleasures of sin, 26 esteeming the reproach of Christ greater riches than the treasures in Egypt; for he looked to the reward.
27 By faith he forsook Egypt, not fearing the wrath of the king; for he endured as seeing Him who is invisible. (Hebrews 11:24–27, NKJV)
REFLECT
I must refuse the world. I must, rather than pursue pleasure and sin, forsake it and be willing to suffer affliction. I have to realize that the reproach I receive will be reproach of Christ. The world hates Him because He tells them their deeds are evil and they do not want to give them up. I must see that reproach is better than the treasures of the world which will burn up. Only God will remain. He is the supreme treasure. Forsake all the world, not fearing the wrath of those who love it, endure keeping my eyes on Christ and the reward coming for those who love Him. All here is worth the sacrifice and pain!!
PRAY
My God, help me turn away from the world and let it go. Help me keep my eyes on you and be willing to suffer. Help me hold on tight to you as you walk me through knowing any reproach is actually toward you and your goodness which lights up their evil and that’s why they are hostile. I want you more than comfort and pleasure and sin. Help me see you as my only treasure. Help me be willing to sacrifice all for your love. You are worthy. Thank you for your love and grace. Amen.
