Mark 10:33-34

saying, “Behold, we are going up to Jerusalem, and the Son of Man will be handed over to the chief priests and the scribes; and they will condemn Him to death and will hand Him over to the Gentiles. And they will mock Him and spit on Him, and flog Him and kill Him; and three days later He will rise from the dead.”

{Jesus speaks very plainly here. They are going to Jerusalem. Jesus will be handed over to the Church leaders. They will condemn him to death and him over to gentiles. The gentiles will use legal means to mock, spit, flog, and kill him. Three days later he will rise from the dead.

He is absolutely crystal clear here. But we do not understand because we are expecting something else. When we are expecting God to do something different, we are resisting grace and do not see truth. We keep waiting for what we think is going to happen. And sometimes we miss the blessing or get angry that God is not answering us.

Jesus open my eyes to be surprised by how you are actually working instead of waiting for you to do things my way. You are so far superior to human ways that of course I will be surprised. Please help me stop looking for what I think I want and be grateful for what you are doing in my life. Then I can see more clearly and be blessed by your attention and care.}

Mark 10:43-45b

whoever wants to become prominent among you shall be your servant; and whoever wants to be first among you shall be slave of all. For even the Son of Man did not come to be served, but to serve, and to give His life as a ransom for many.

{Our pride is astonishing. We are forever trying to be over others. Wanting to be the best, wanting to have more, thinking we are better than others. God himself left Heaven!! God himself walked with us in a human body!! He gave up Glory to be constrained in a body for a time. He came to serve human beings!! His entire life on earth was an outpouring of love as an oblation!! Leaving all GLORY to Ransom the people who are constantly spitting in his face because we want our own sinful diseased destruction. And we won’t even accept one little criticism, be second, much less be last!!

Lord Jesus, my pride is disgusting! I am horrified by my ability to rationalize deservedness. I deserve hell and yet you still give me so many blessings. Help me my King to learn to give up my pride, to learn humility of heart, to learn to see all that you are doing for me in Grace, and give you gratitude for all good. The only good I have is a gift from you!! My only contribution is resistance, please heal my brokenness so I can tell if YOUR GLORY working in me!! Amen}

Mark 10:47-52

And when he heard that it was Jesus the Nazarene, he began to cry out and say, “Jesus, Son of David, have mercy on me!” Many were sternly telling him to be quiet, but he kept crying out all the more, “Son of David, have mercy on me!” And Jesus stopped and said, “Call him here.” So they *called the man who was blind, saying to him, “Take courage, stand up! He is calling for you.” And throwing off his cloak, he jumped up and came to Jesus. And replying to him, Jesus said, “What do you want Me to do for you?” And the man who was blind said to Him, “Rabboni, I want to regain my sight!” And Jesus said to him, “Go; your faith has made you well.” And immediately he regained his sight and began following Him on the road.

{Jesus Son of David have Mercy on Me!! I want to see your truth, your works, your ways! I keep looking for my ways and miss your work. Jesus, I want to regain my sight!! You say, Go your faith has made you well, come follow me!  The faith you give me is a grace, but I have to CHOOSE to accept it and believe and trust. I accept! I believe, I trust. Help my unbelief when I’m weak!! Thank you for healing. Help me follow. Amen}
