The only way to be saved is to accept God’s law and design for living. He has made a way to do that through Jesus.
Just because he loves us does not mean we are saved. We must love him and become the creation he intended or we will be on the wrong road leading to hell.
The rejection of God's law is a fundamental factor that separates us from Him, because rejecting God's law is essentially a rejection of God's love and His divine order for creation.
The ultimate demonstration of God's love is the sacrifice of Jesus, who died for the sins of humanity. God offers salvation as a gift, but He does not force it upon anyone. Accepting this gift requires a free and conscious decision
Salvation involves a cooperation between God's grace and human freedom. We must willingly assent to God's word and cooperate with the Holy Spirit.
The Importance of Obedience
• Following Christ: Jesus Christ perfectly obeyed God's will, and we are called to imitate His obedience 10.
• Love for God: Jesus said, "If you love me, you will keep my commandments".
• Growth in Holiness: Obedience to God's law, empowered by grace, leads to growth in holiness and union with God.
Sanctification is a process of being made holy, of conforming to the image of Christ 1 2. It begins with Baptism and continues through life as one participates in the sacraments and lives according to God's will.
God's Law as an Expression of His Love
• Divine Wisdom: God's law is not arbitrary but an expression of His divine wisdom and love, designed for our good and happiness 4.
• Natural Law: Part of God's law is written on the human heart as natural law, which can be discerned through reason 6.
• Revealed Law: God also reveals His law through Scripture and Tradition, guiding us toward salvation
Rejection of God's Law as Sin
• Offense Against God: Sin is defined as an offense against God, a failure in genuine love for Him and neighbor 1 2.
• Disobedience: It is a revolt against God's will and a preference for our own will over His 3.
• Wounding Human Nature: Sin wounds human nature and injures human solidarity
Implicit Rejection of God
• Turning Away: sin involves turning away from God, who is our ultimate end.
• Preference for Inferior Good: It entails preferring an inferior good to God's law and love.
• Disordered Choice: Choosing something gravely disordered, even without explicit contempt for God, implies a rejection of divine law and love
Even if a person committing mortal sin is not explicitly trying to reject God, the act itself, if done with full knowledge and deliberate consent, constitutes a grave offense that turns one away from God.
Those who die in mortal sin, having rejected God's grace, go to Hell.
