Galatians 2:19-21
Galatians 3:2-3
For I through the law died to the law that I might live to God. I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me. I do not set aside the grace of God; for if righteousness comes through the law, then Christ died in vain.”
This only I want to learn from you: Did you receive the Spirit by the works of the law, or by the hearing of faith? Are you so foolish? Having begun in the Spirit, are you now being made perfect by the flesh?
REFLECT
I had to die to the law to live by Grace. Instead of searching what the law says and trying to obey, I must yield to the Spirit and ask what to do in each moment. This is a new humble dependent posture instead of an analysis and striving posture (pride). The more I try in my own strength the more frustrated I become. I also loose the sense of Him because I am not surrendering, I am doing (not doing well either!)
I must choose to crucify myself and let Christ have his way in my life. No one can force my submission to Christ. It is a choice each person has to make. I need to forsake all desires and my own will, to surrender to His, which I most of the time don’t like and can’t understand.
But I do this in Faith, knowing He gave himself up for me and loves me and wants the very best for me (which will come in the new world, not necessarily here. God is looking through eternity not just this world).
I cannot live by striving anymore, I have to submit to Grace and live by the Holy Spirit in utter complete broken dependence. Righteousness is not by obeying laws but by humble Grace dependent surrender to God. You receive the Spirit by Faith and walk in it by Faith completely Trusting in God for the blessings to be eternal.
PRAY
Oh my Jesus, I confess. Have been striving to obey. But I have not been humbly broken and dependent. No wonder I can’t seem to find you. I have to stop wanting my way. I have to stop trying to obey rules and surrender to grace. You are the Savior, I cannot save myself. You will not give your glory to me just because I want to do right for you. It is Your strength. Your glory!
Also, I’ve been looking for the deliverance here, it may not be here. My life here is not necessarily to be comfortable. It is a battle to kill my sin. And that only happens through the CROSS. Please help me learn to be willing to suffer to break the pride and sin off me. Help me be willing to be humble and dependent. This is a very difficult stance for me. It is PAIN.
I know you love me. You came to show me how much! You died so I could be washed in the Blood and be indwelt by the Spirit. Holy Spirit, help me surrender to your guidance in perfect peace knowing this pain will bring eternal rewards not necessarily rewards of any kind here on this world.
Save me God, by Your Glory! Amen!!
