Luke 24:45
And He opened their understanding, that they might comprehend the Scriptures.

Anyone can read the Bible. Anyone can understand what it says on a natural level. But not everyone can understand on a spiritual level. There are four ways to read scripture. The literal teaches history, the allegorical what you should believe, the moral what you should do, the anagogical where you are going. These truths are discerned by spiritual means. Only through Jesus and the Spirit can we get what He is trying to tell us.
PRAY
Jesus, please help me, every time I come to your scripture to open my understanding. I know that I am a sinner and my mind is dark here. Only by your grace can it be opened to understand. I forget to pray to ask for understanding before I read, please forgive my lack of reverence. I can see how easy it is for scripture to be manipulated, it is all over our world, especially in the church. Please help me know what you want me to understand and to practice it!

Luke 24:47
and that repentance and remission of sins should be preached in His name to all nations, beginning at Jerusalem.
REFLECT
I believe YOU! In your name we can repent and our sins completely forgiven. I believe you when you said in your word you died for all men. I believe you want your message to go to all people everywhere! I believe you are drawing all men to yourself! I believe you want us to make a choice to follow you. I believe you give the grace to do so. Thank you for loving us, thank you for not giving up on us in our sin. Thank you for coming and showing us a way back to you!
PRAY
Jesus, I repent of sin. I ask for cleansing. I ask for a new heart. I ask for Grace to follow you all my days. I ask that people be told the truth that you did not come for a select few…in Christ is the chosen and elect. JESUS is the elect and anyone in Him is considered elect. The gates are open!! Help me preach the Word, you are reconciling those who receive! Help us all receive! Amen.

Luke 24:49
Behold, I send the Promise of My Father upon you; but tarry in the city of Jerusalem until you are endued with power from on high.
REFLECT
Jesus sends the promise from the Father. The promise is the Holy Spirit. The disciples have to wait for it. When the Spirit comes they will have power from on high.
PRAY
Jesus, please send the promise from the Father in me. Father, I believe in Your Christ, my Lord. Lord, I believe you and what you have done for me. Please send me the Holy Spirit so I can live in your Power! Power is what keeps me in you. I cannot live the spiritual life in my strength. It is not natural but supernatural. Come Holy Spirit, come make your home in me and cleanse out all impurity so you are comfortable here. Help me give you glory in my life. Amen.
