READ
Luke 21:34-36
“But take heed to yourselves, lest your hearts be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness, and cares of this life, and that Day come on you unexpectedly. For it will come as a snare on all those who dwell on the face of the whole earth. Watch therefore, and pray always that you may be counted worthy to escape all these things that will come to pass, and to stand before the Son of Man.”
REFLECT
Take heed for your own conduct. Stop looking around worrying about how everyone else is living. I am responsible for me and my responses. If I look at others or the state of the world, I get weighed down and want to act out or escape. I must keep my eyes on Christ and the hope of the kingdom to combat anger and fear that leads to bad choices. I don’t want to not be ready because I am concerning myself with things that are not mine to be concerned about. This snare is coming to those who do not keep their eyes on Christ and the kingdom. I must be watching and waiting for Jesus to come get me (either my unexpected death or His coming). If I am ready at all times I will escape the snare of unpreparedness that the entire world will undergo. I want to stand ready to be with Jesus my Lord, Savior, and God.
PRAY
Oh my Jesus, you see my broken heart. You see how I am constantly concerned about things that are not my concern. I think I’m trying to control my situations and circumstances. Please help me let go and let you run your world the way you see fit. I am to be looking to you! I am to focus on doing what you would have ME DO. I overthink! Not just overthink, I OVERTHINK!! Please deliver me from this insanity. Help me stop worrying about what is going on around me and to stay in your presence, wherever I am, listening to you. I want to be ready to be with you when you come to get me. I do not want to be caught unprepared by getting tangled in affairs or thoughts of anything that I am not responsible for. Help me live in YOU. Amen.
