John 5:19, 30
Then Jesus answered and said to them, “Most assuredly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of Himself, but what He sees the Father do; for whatever He does, the Son also does in like manner.
I can of Myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and My judgment is righteous, because I do not seek My own will but the will of the Father who sent Me.
REFLECT
Jesus does nothing by Himself. Jesus does what He sees the Father doing. He is doing the exact same things the Father does in the exact same way. An exact representation of the Father and His actions.
As Jesus hears the Father, He judges. Jesus’ judgment is righteous because he is united in perfect will with the Father. He does not have another will other than the Father’s will.
I am to die to self and live for Jesus just as Jesus lives for the Father. I am not to do anything on my own. I am supposed to find out the what the Father and Jesus would have me do in every minute of my life everyday. I am to be listening to them all the time. I am to forsake my will and be united in will with Jesus and the Father. I am to not have another will other than what God wants.
PRAY
God, this is the high calling of being a Christian. It is impossible. But with you all things are possible. If I humbly admit I cannot live this calling, I can receive the Holy Spirt. Holy Spirit please teach me to hear you, please teach me to yield, surrender, & submit to you, please empower me to do what you require. I know all glory goes to you! It is all grace. I stand in faith knowing I cannot, but you Can. In humility, I beg for this grace. Amen!!
