if God loves all people the same how do I know he will protect me from an enemy since he loves the enemy the same as me

God's protection is available to you, but it is not a guarantee of worldly success or safety from all harm. It is more about providing the strength, grace, and spiritual armor to withstand evil and remain faithful  . God's love extends to your enemy as well, with the hope of their conversion and salvation. Trust in God, seek His help through prayer and virtuous living, and strive to love as Christ loves  .

God's love for all people, including both you and your enemy, is a foundational aspect of Christian belief [^1] [^5]. This love, however, does not negate God's protection and care for those who seek Him. Here's how to understand this concept:

#### God's Universal Love
*   **Unconditional Love:** God's love is unconditional and universal, extending to all of humanity without distinction [^1]. As Pope John Paul II stated, "God loves you all, without distinction, without limit" [^1].
*   **Love for Enemies:** This love even extends to enemies, as Jesus taught, "Love your enemies, do good to those who hate you, bless those who curse you, pray for those who mistreat you" [^20] [^21]) [^25]). This is not a spontaneous reaction but a hallmark of Jesus’ message [^21]).
*   **God's Nature:** God's love is an intrinsic part of His nature. "God is love, and he who abides in love abides in God, and God in him" [^1].

#### Divine Providence and Protection
*   **Divine Providence:** God guides all creation with wisdom and love towards ultimate perfection through divine providence [^15] [^17]. The Catechism of the Catholic Church explains that God "protects and governs all things which he has made" [^17].
*   **Trust in God:** Through faith in Jesus, we trust in God, who raised Him from the dead and gave Him glory [^10]. This trust provides a basis for hope and confidence in God's protection [^19].
*   **Seeking God's Grace:** It is not easy for people, wounded by sin, to maintain moral balance [^18]. Therefore, everyone should always ask for God's grace of light and strength [^18].

#### Practical Application
*   **Prayer and Faith:** Prayers for protection are a devout practice in the Church [^14]. The use of sacraments and sacramentals, such as holy water and the sign of the cross, are fitting accompaniments to prayer [^14].
*   **Love and Forgiveness:** Christ requires forgiveness of offenses and extends the commandment of love to all enemies [^22]. However, loving one's enemy does not mean loving the evil they do [^22].
*   **Personal Relationship with Christ:** Entering into a relationship of love with Jesus helps fulfill the purpose for which we were created [^3] [^4]. By opening your heart to Christ, you can find joy and peace [^3] [^4].

#### Balancing Love and Justice
*   **Love as a Path to Victory:** While it may seem that love loses its power in the face of concrete situations, love ultimately brings victory and is never defeated [^27].
*   **The example of Jesus:** Jesus did not point a finger at those who condemned him but opened his arms to them on the cross [^25]).

#### Conclusion
God's universal love does not mean He equally approves of all actions or withholds protection from those who seek Him. Instead, His love is a call to conversion, urging all people, including enemies, towards reconciliation and holiness [^21]) [^25]). By living a virtuous life, seeking God's grace, and praying for protection, you can trust in His care while also embracing His call to love even your enemies [^18] [^20] [^25]).
