God made us justified and righteous
We lost it in fall
OT Law: saved by obedience of externals
NT Law: saved by obedience of Holy Spirit who gives power to love and do law for love
P: Dead in sin: cannot hear God or want him; can want truth but can’t see it.
Can do good naturally but not toward God
C: Broken in sin: not listening but can hear but don’t want him; can want truth- (sufficient).
Can do good naturally but not toward God
Call: humans made to want truth.
P: God calls in nature, in conscience, (not sufficient)
P: those chosen in Holy Spirit (efficacious)
C: God calls in nature, in conscience, in Holy Spirit
C: all by all (sufficient for all, efficacious for some)
Salvation:
P: God calls person effectively
C: God calls person and they choose response (only by grace can respond yes)
Justification:
P: effective on Faith, walk out sanctification by grace of Holy Spirit. If leave was never saved.
C: effective on Baptism and Faith, walk out both justification and sanctification by choosing to stay in Holy Spirit. If leave can be brought to repentance by grace again or not. Sufficient for all.
Fall away:
P: Some people baptized do not stay in faith (we’re never saved)
C: Some people baptized do not stay in faith (quit choosing to stay with God) King Saul was changed with new personality and heart but rejected grace.
