Matthew 10:11-13
And whatever city or village you enter, inquire who is worthy in it, and stay there until you leave. Now as you enter the house, give it your greeting. And if the house is worthy, let your peace come upon it. But if it is not worthy, let your peace return to you.
Judging worthiness involves a combination of seeking those who are receptive to the Gospel using prudence and discernment, observing their character and actions, and relying on the guidance of the Holy Spirit. The goal is to find those who are open to receiving the message of peace and the Kingdom of God and ready to accept a personal invitation to follow Jesus or to participate in the communal life of the Church. Ultimately, God calls those whom He makes worthy. While disciples can exercise discernment, it is God who ultimately makes individuals receptive to His message.
