Psalm 107:10-12
There were those who inhabited darkness and the shadow of death,
Prisoners in affliction and irons,
Because they had rebelled against the words of God
And spurned the counsel of the Most High.
So He subdued their heart with labor;
They stumbled and there was none to help.
20-22
He sent His word and healed them,
And provided them escape from their destructions.
Let them give thanks to Yahweh for His lovingkindness,
And for His wondrous deeds to the sons of men!
Let them also offer sacrifices of thanksgiving,
And recount His works with joyful singing.
when people spurn gods word, he leaves them in their calamity that’s wrath but if they cry out he gives them his word to follow to heal them? if they disobey the go back to experience wrath.
Rejecting God's word and commandments leads to negative consequences, described metaphorically as "wrath" 1. This isn't vindictive anger but a natural consequence of straying from divine order.
Despite the consequences of rejecting God, His mercy is always available for those who repent and return to Him.
God's wrath is not a passion but a means of discipline for sinners 1. Each person brings wrath upon themselves through their sins
God's "threats" are like a physician's warnings, meant to guide people toward repentance and a proper way of life
Disobedience after receiving God's mercy can lead back to experiencing the consequences of sin, emphasizing the need for ongoing conversion and adherence to God's word
Divine justice dictates that mortal sin, which is contrary to charity, leads to eternal expulsion from the fellowship of saints and everlasting punishment 9. This punishment is not just vindictive but serves to safeguard divine justice and allows the elect to rejoice in God's justice.
God desires all people to be saved and offers everyone the possibility of repentance, but the actualization of repentance depends on the individual's response to God's grace. Repentance is understood as a gift of grace, a movement towards God initiated and sustained by divine assistance.
People can reject Grace. Freedom is the power, rooted in reason and will, to act or not to act, to do this or that, and so to perform deliberate actions on one's own responsibility. By free will one shapes one's own life. As long as freedom has not bound itself definitively to its ultimate good which is God, there is the possibility of choosing between good and evil, and thus of growing in perfection or of failing and sinning. This freedom characterizes properly human acts and is the basis of praise or blame, merit or reproach.
Impediments to Freedom: Ignorance, inadvertence, duress, fear, habit, and inordinate attachments can diminish the voluntary character of an act, to a greater or lesser degree, and thus also diminish responsibility.
Choosing God and His commandments are life! Rejecting God and His commandments lead to destruction. He leaves you in your choices. If you choose to not follow that is His wrath. If you choose to follow that is life.
