WHY I AM CATHOLIC

Matthew 23:1-3

Then Jesus spoke to the crowds and to His disciples, saying: “The scribes and the Pharisees have seated themselves in the chair of Moses; therefore all that they tell you, do and keep, but do not do according to their deeds; for they say things and do not do them.

Matthew 23:8-11

But do not be called Rabbi; for One is your Teacher, and you are all brothers. And do not call anyone on earth your father; for One is your Father, He who is in heaven. Do not be called instructors; for One is your Instructor, that is, Christ. But the greatest among you shall be your servant.

The Church has seated men on the Chair of Moses/Peter. Therefore do as they tell you (they have the keys to the kingdom). Do and keep these laws-God is guiding the church ALWAYS. No authority is in place without God. 

Romans 13:1 Every person is to be in subjection to the governing authorities. For there is no authority except from God, and those which exist have been appointed by God.

Luke 10:16 “The one who listens to you listens to Me, and the one who rejects you rejects Me. And he who rejects Me rejects the One who sent Me.”

But do not do what they do. For they do not obey their own teaching. All men are sinners. They know the law of God but do not always practice it. 

Man is not my Rabbi Teacher.

God is my Rabbi Teacher!

All men are brothers. 

No man is my Father.

God is my Father who is in heaven!

No man is my instructor.

Christ is my instructor!

The greatest (in the place of Rabbi, Teacher, Father, Instructor here on earth, is my servant to guide, but not all of my allegiance, that is reserved for God alone. 

I am to submit to the authorities God has placed over me in honor of God. I Peter 2:13-15 Be subject for the sake of the Lord to every human institution, whether to a king as the one in authority, or to governors as sent by him for the punishment of evildoers and the praise of those who do good. For such is the will of God that by doing good you may silence the ignorance of foolish men.

If I do not listen to the church, I am not listening to God. I pledge allegiance to God and therefore obey HIS CHURCH. Not necessarily what the leaders are “doing”!
