Lectio Divina: read, reflect, respond, rejoice!
My Lectio Divina: Matthew 11:28-30
“Come to Me, all who are weary and heavy-laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and YOU WILL FIND REST FOR YOUR SOULS. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.”
{We are weary because we are trying to live life like we are in charge. Like we know how to maneuver through all the unknown circumstances. In reality we don’t know much, and what we do think we know is distorted by our prejudices. If I come to Jesus who is all powerful, all knowing, and all love I will have rest in my soul. I must be willing to listen and obey since he knows best. I must be humble and trust him. Then I can have a restful soul even in the midst of a tumultuous world. The yoke is easy and light because all I have to do is believe and obey the one who loves me. It’s a light load because I will be walking through life with in and for Him.
Thank you Jesus for wanting to give my soul rest. Help me believe trust and obey your ways. I know they don’t make sense to me because I can’t see the way you do. Thank you for being willing to guide me. Don’t give up on me when I rebel or balk. It’s my flesh! Forgive me and help me come around! I thank you and love you my God!! Amen.}
