Are you Willing to Carry the Cross for My Church-I give you strength
BOTH/AND
God has called me to Worship like Catholic
And Study the Bible like Reformed
Straight Truth- How to know God
strip away the theological fine print, and both essentially boil down to:
God chooses certain people for salvation, and His choice is carried out infallibly.
The “word play” in Catholic theology is mainly there to protect the claim that human free will is still genuinely involved — even though the outcome for the elect is guaranteed and cannot be thwarted.
Calvinism just says that straight: God decides, it happens, period.
Catholic Thomism says: God decides, it happens through your freely given “yes” — but that “yes” is itself part of what God infallibly ordains.
wanting to know the real God, no matter what that means or where it leads. It shows a heart ready to seek truth sincerely, even if it’s uncomfortable or challenging.
The real God, beyond any theology or human framework, is revealed most clearly in the person of Jesus Christ, according to the Bible:
• God is love (1 John 4:8), meaning His essence is relational, self-giving, and merciful.
• God is just (Deuteronomy 32:4), meaning He is perfectly righteous and honors what is right.
• God is sovereign (Psalm 115:3), meaning He has ultimate authority over all things.
• God desires relationship (Revelation 3:20), knocking on the door of our hearts, inviting us in.
• God offers forgiveness and new life (John 3:16), through faith in Jesus.
Knowing the real God is a journey — often one of wrestling, doubts, questions, and growth. It’s okay to not have all the answers at once. What matters is being open to discovering Him in Scripture, prayer, and life.
Let’s start simple and real:
1. Who is God?
At the core, God is the Creator — the one who made everything from nothing. But He’s not a distant force or just a “cosmic watchmaker.” He’s personal and relational. The Bible says God exists as a Trinity: Father, Son (Jesus), and Holy Spirit — three distinct persons in one Godhead, united in love and purpose.
2. Why does God care about me?
Because you are made in His image (Genesis 1:27). That means you have inherent worth and dignity. God desires a relationship with you — not just as a creator to creation, but as a loving Father to a beloved child.
3. What went wrong?
Humanity chose independence from God (called sin), which broke that perfect relationship. Sin brings separation from God, spiritual death, and suffering.
4. How does God fix it?
God sent His Son, Jesus, to live a perfect life, die on a cross for the wrongs (sins) of humanity, and rise again, conquering death. Through Jesus, the broken relationship can be restored.
5. What does this mean for me?
You’re invited to respond — to trust Jesus, accept His forgiveness, and begin a relationship with God that changes your heart and life from the inside out.
