Luke 9:54-56
And when His disciples James and John saw this, they said, “Lord, do You want us to command fire to come down from heaven and consume them, just as Elijah did?”
But He turned and rebuked them, and said, “You do not know what manner of spirit you are of. For the Son of Man did not come to destroy men’s lives but to save them.” And they went to another village.
Reflection:
If you are angry at sinners because they don’t understand remember at one time you did not understand.
We are not to condemn, we are to convert. If we want to condemn and harm, that is the devil spirit.
Jesus came to call and convert, offer and save men. He did not come to destroy man.
Prayer:
Jesus I confess I am judgmental and angry. I am so sorry for listening to the wrong spirit. Help me, please open my heart to give love and offer salvation to others. You want to save us not condemn us. Thank you for being willing to keep giving us a chance to understand. You are always welcoming and trying to offer. It takes many many seeds to finally have one take a root. Thank you for helping me see my garden heart. Break open my heart of stone and be a conduit for your mercy and grace. Amen!
