  • Eucharist as a Sacrifice:
The Mass, also known as the Eucharist, is a central act of worship in Catholic Christianity. It is seen as a sacrifice, but not a physical sacrifice like the one Christ offered on the cross.
  • The sacrifice is understood as a spiritual offering, where the faithful join with Christ in His self-offering to the Father.
  • Continuation of Christ's Sacrifice:
The Mass is viewed as a continuation of Christ's sacrifice, where His sacrifice on the cross is made present and available to believers.
  • Offering of Gifts:
During the Mass, the bread and wine are offered to God as gifts, which are then consecrated and transformed into the Body and Blood of Christ.
  • Communion with God:
Through receiving Holy Communion, the faithful are united with Christ and participate in His sacrifice.
  • Praise and Thanksgiving:
The Mass also includes prayers, hymns, and scripture readings, which are a way to praise God and give thanks for His salvation.
