Pride is the fundamental sin of the seven deadly sins.
pride: vanity, greed, wrath, envy, lust, gluttony, and sloth.
Pride: will not surrender to God’s design and will.
Vanity: love of self glory and wanting admiration or attention.
Greed: insatiable desire for anything that feeds one’s selfishness.
Wrath: anger to real or perceived provocations
Envy: desire to destroy someone’s goodness
Lust: disordered desire for sexual pleasure.
Gluttony: over-indulgence to the point of waste.
Sloth: a habitual disinclination to exertion -non disciplined.
Pride: Hubris, is considered the fundamental sin and the mother of all vices. Will not surrender to Gods design - the core of all seven deadly sins. If God exists at all to the prideful person, it is only to gratify one’s ego and sense of importance. Leads to self-idolatry, where a person elevates themselves to the point of worshiping their own image or achievements. [Humility]
Vanity: Self glory instead of gods glory. Excessive love in oneself, particularly in one's appearance or achievements with no recognition of or appreciation for the gifts one has received from God. It involves an inflated sense of self-importance and a desire for admiration and recognition from others. [Humility]
Greed: is an insatiable love or desire for material gain be it food, money, land, or animate/inanimate possessions or social value, such as status, fame, control, or power, or anything else that feeds one’s selfishness. [Charity]
Wrath: a strong, uncomfortable and non-cooperative response to a perceived provocation, hurt, or threat. Anger, rage, frustration, resentment, and hatred, especially when it leads to a desire for vengeance, revenge, or harmful actions. [Patience]
Envy: a person lacks another's quality, skill, achievement, or possession and either desires it or wishes that the other lacked it. Envy can also refer to the wish for another person to lack something one already possesses so as to remove the equality of possession between both parties. [Gratitude]
Lust: disordered desire for or inordinate enjoyment of sexual pleasure. Especially Wanting sexual relations outside of God’s design. Sexual relations according to God’s design is between one man and one woman for life. (They Deserve social, spiritual, and financial, accountability to community) [Chastity]
Gluttony: over-indulgence and over-consumption of anything to the point of waste. [Temperance]
Sloth: a habitual disinclination to exertion, or laziness, especially toward God and his will. A culpable lack of physical or spiritual effort. Views concerning the virtue of work to support society and further God's plan suggest that through inactivity, one invites sin. [Diligent Discipline]
Humility is the hardest but most necessary lesson that every Christian Apostle has to learn. Many times we wonder why God permits so many hardships and failures in our lives. Many times he does so because it’s the only way we will learn that we are limited, that we are not God. Substantial humility is the habitual and joyful awareness that we are utterly dependent on God for all things! Christ only asks for one thing from us: our trust. If we trust him, we will have everything we need to fulfill our life’s mission.
