Salvation comes from God’s grace, not human effort
Simply put: you cannot save yourself. Never forget that.
For by grace you have been saved through faith; and this is not your own doing, it is the gift of God—not because of works, lest any man should boast. For we are his workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand, that we should walk in them.
(Ephesians 2:8–10)
in god’s presence, consider …
Do I imagine I can somehow “bargain” with God for my salvation? Do I foolishly think my own efforts “obligate” God to save me? Or do I recognize that he saves me by grace alone and that both my faith and my good works are themselves gifts of his grace?
closing prayer
Lord, I place my trust completely in your grace, for you alone can save me. I acknowledge with humble gratitude that it is your gift of grace alone that makes my faith and my obedience fruitful and meritorious in your eyes.
