Lectio Divina: read, reflect, respond, rejoice!

My Lectio Divina: Psalm 56:3-4

When I am afraid,

I put my trust in you.

In God, whose word I praise,

in God I trust; I shall not be afraid.

What can flesh do to me?

{It can be scary here Jesus. I get anxiety about many things, dealing with people, places, and things. My thoughts assail me to think I am in danger. But I must remember that my soul is safe. Even if people places or things come against me no one can harm my soul, I have a choice to hide it in you. If I am in you, I will not react harmfully and damage my soul. The only one that can harm my soul is me. People places and things can tempt but cannot make me. It is my choice and I must call on you for help! So when I am afraid of anything I must come to you and hide in you. I will put my trust in your protection of my soul. I can trust your word, you said I will always find mercy and grace to help in times of trouble, even if the trouble is in my own mind. I praise your word! I will trust you. I will trust your word. I will not be afraid! Mortal man cannot harm my soul!!

Thank you God for giving me your word. I can believe you because God does not and cannot lie! Thank you for being faithful and trustworthy. Thank you for being the one I can go to for help in trouble. Thank you for protecting my soul! Help me have the strength to hide in you and not lash out. My own self is the only one that can harm my soul. I will trust in you and your plan. I will not be afraid. Thank you! Amen}

My Lectio Divina: Psalm 47:2

For the LORD, the Most High, is to be feared,

a great king over all the earth.

{God is sovereign. He is King over the entire creation. He sees all and is orchestrating all things for His Glory. He is to be feared! If I am not in His side, this will turn out not for my benefit. He is righteous and loves righteousness. I must come to him in humility and ask to be taught his ways. His Kingdom reigns and will be eternal. If I choose this world’s ways I am choosing a reality that will parish and I will lose all I worked for. Only Him and His Kingdom is everlasting. 

Thank you Almighty God for being willing to stoop down and speak to me. Thank you for being willing to offer me a way out of this deathly situation. Thank you for being willing to offer eternal life in your kingdom! Thank you for giving me a meaning in this life instead of it being meaningless. Holy God, please make me into the new person you prepared for me to be. Amen!}

My Lectio Divina: Psalm 47:7-8

For God is the King of all the earth;

sing praises with a psalm!

God reigns over the nations;

God sits on his holy throne.

{God, you are the KING! You are reigning over all! You are on Your Holy Throne! No one can thwart your plan! No matter what we do, you will work even evil for your Glory! The worst thing man has done was try and kill you, but you rose from the dead and made it the way of salvation. You laugh at your enemies. Nothing can harm you! Praise you Almighty King!!!

Thank you for giving us a way of salvation! Thank you for not giving up on us! Thank you for your steadfast love that was willing to even suffer death so we could be with you!! Thank you for being the indestructible King Reigning on Your Holy Throne!! We are safe IN YOU!!

Save me my God! Amen.}
