Lectio Divina: read, reflect, respond, rejoice!

My Lectio Divina: Matthew 1:21-23

She will bear a son, and you shall call his name Jesus, for he will save his people from their sins.” All this took place to fulfill what the Lord had spoken by the prophet:

“Behold, the virgin shall conceive and bear a son,

and they shall call his name Immanuel”

(which means, God with us).

{Jesus saves me from my sin. His name is Immanuel which means God with us. Jesus came to live in me to help ME not sin. The world may harm me but God is in me to strengthen my resolve to not hate, resent, attack, or respond in sin. Because of His great love for me He came to show how to forgive, in Jesus, so that like him, I can resurrect to new life.

People are led astray by the evil one stirring up their destructive desires due to the fallen nature. They are deceived. Do not hate them, pity them that they are in the trap of the devil. Pray for their release from his dominion.

Jesus, help me see that I cannot change people, places, or things that are harmful. But with your own power, living in me, you can change my reaction and responses to it, if I will bring every thought captive to you. I must be willing to bring my thoughts to you for the correct way to see things. Prayer and recollection is the only way!

You will repay what you judge as right and just since you know all things. Jesus, I trust in You!

Thank you Jesus for coming to live the perfect life and die so that I can now be one with you. Your humanity joined to divinity makes it possible for my humanity to join with divinity. What an amazing gift. And you came to stay in me by sending your Holy Spirit. I have God’s own power and wisdom to help me discern what reactions and responses I should have. I am not alone. You are Immanuel, With Me! Help me not sin against you. When I sin my mind darkens and it is harder to hear you. Save me my Savior!! Amen!}
